Big Sis and Baby Girl – South Jersey Newborn Photographer

Miss Kennedy was a dream.  She was the perfect newborn baby in so many ways. She was sleepy, loved all her poses, and had a very excited big sister who wanted to pose with her new baby.  Big sister was very interested in being involved and wanted to be included in many shots. But how gorgeous are these two together.

Big sister was very sweet with her baby sister and was showing her love with kisses and (sometimes tight) hugs.

I loved capturing this new family of four! If you are in the South Jersey region and need newborn portraits, contact Karrie Davis today.

I love being able to go into a client’s home and just grab a snapshot at this overwhelming stage that bringing a newborn home can be. Many people think that this kind of session is a good alternative to coming into my studio for a posed newborn session. Some clients, especially new moms, have not thought about scheduling a newborn session until after the baby is here. I do all my studio-posed sessions within the first 12 days of life and some clients have not gotten around to wrapping their brain around mommyhood until that window has closed. In comes a newborn lifestyle session, an in-home session where I can capture an hour “in your life” session. Whether it is a feeding session in the rocker, hanging on the couch with dad, or settling into the new digs of the nursery, it is a reap snapshot into a true store of the new baby.

I also bring my travel beanbag and try some shots, because why not? But most babies from two weeks to a month have awaken to active awake cycles and their deep sleep is saved for night time. And posing newborns is something that need to be done in a deep sleep. I always try and encourage clients who have missed that newborn posed phase to try this way. As a newborn comes home, all schedules go out the door. I guarantee it will pass quicker than you want it to be, even though you long for solid 4-5 hours of sleep. There will be things you will not remember in your fog like state from that first month. Having an in home lifestyle session allows it to be captured for forever. It will be a session that you treasure the most.

In this session, the H family wanted to capture some newborn photos but were past the first 12 days of life. Their first born son was struggling with reflux so things were not going so smoothly for them at first.  But once the routine was established, she reached out to me.  I loved that I was able to capture his adorable nursery, plus some mom and dad cuddle time.

Little Miss Olivia was adorable.  She is 21 days new. That is a first for me.  Newborn baby photos are usually best taken at no more than 14 days old. She did put up a good fight, in terms of wanting to sleep. By 3 hours in, I was starting to wonder if she should fall asleep. But I held out enough hope and she gave in.  When she finally closed her eyes and seemed settled, I was a flurry of activity with my camera and outfits, headbands, and everything.  Trying very hard not to be a perfectionist with hands, or feet since I was scared of waking her.

I love being able to capture newborn babies as this stage is so fleeting. They grow so very fast in the first few months.  But the squishy-ness that is a newborn, make it so fun to create poses that they remind them of being all secure for those long 10 months.

The neutral tones are becoming something that I love doing.  I love the natural and monotone feel that comes from ivory or blush. I plan on doing more of my newborns in a neutral and classic look and really making it my own style.

Little Miss O was one of my favorites. I think that often, right after editing a newborn photo session. I can’t wait for my next newborn photo shoot.

Baby Charlotte was so perfect for our newborn pictures ! She loved to stare at me! You can tell she is really looking and you and studying all your features. She was so fun to capture. Her sweet face as she slept was so much fun and I did a majority of the photos from the session in the first 30 minutes. And she she smiled in her sleep, and I was able to capture it on my camera. I love giving parents a happy smile in their newborn images.  I think I like her awake pictures just as much as her angelic sleeping ones.

Baby Caroline – Upper Township Newborn Photographer

At home Newborn Photos

I got to meet this early arrival last month. She came several weeks early so we pushed off our her at home newborn photos in  week. She was so tiny when we did our pictures, that some outfits were quite loose. She was so good, and I was able to get several outfit changes and a poses. Her little legs stretched for days, and this gorgeous baby girl will be growing into her outfits so soon.

A benefit of an in home newborn photo session is the new parents can rest in the comfort of their own home, and just watch, sleep, etc. I love being able to bond with these newborns and talking with moms about all the new experiences they are discovering.

Caroline was so fair and so princess like, she was a joy to capture.  I am finding my style in newborn photography, and I favor so much of the neutrals and classic feel of a subdued and subtle color scheme.
